The Conservatives in Gibraltar are constituted as a branch of the UK South West region
party. Although not active in Gibraltar politics, our mission is to engage politically with
our fellow Conservatives.
Gibraltar elects members of the European Parliament, after winning the case for enfrancisment
of the territory in the European Court of Human Rights. Subsequently We chose to form part of the
South West region of the United Kingdom.
Gibraltar participated in Elections for the first time in 2004 with a resounding vote for the
Conservatives.
William Hague visited the Rock during the 2009 campaign as shadow foreign secretary and said
he hoped soon there would be a Conservative Government in the UK, a promise which was kept in
the 2010 General Election.
